Freez-King (301-662-8484) has awoken from its long winter slumber (it’s closed every year from December through February). The ice cream/carry-out food stand is located on North East Street. Drive by this place on a summer night and you are liable to see a parking lot full of people eating frozen treats.
I have never tried Freez-King’s real food (sandwiches and subs) but I have eaten many a soft serve ice cream cone from the establishment. Some of the highlights include chocolate dipped cones, banana splits, snow cones, and milkshakes.
I’m old school when it comes to my ice cream, I get a cone of chocolate and vanilla swirled with rainbow sprinkles. Every time. My wife usually gets a banana split or a hand dipped cone (the kind with the crunchy chocolate on the outside).
If you like soft serve ice cream I suggest you check it out.
